Dr. Matt Ruggiero
Dr Matt Ruggiero is a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist and Co-Director of Lifespan Psychology Center in Perth, Western Australia. He has held academic and research positions at several Western Australian universities and provides Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) and psychoanalytic psychotherapy for children and adults.
Dr Ruggiero is an accredited MBT-Adult and MBT-Aolescent trainer and supervisor and an associate trainer and supervisor in the Lighthouse Parenting Program. His clinical and research interests focus on developmental psychopathology, trauma-informed practice, and service innovation.
He has consulted on the implementation of MBT services in government, non-government, and community organisations across Australia, and has published on psychotherapy practice, parenting, mentalization, and family violence mediation. He has also co-authored policy and practice frameworks for working with people living with personality disorder, now adopted across health and community sectors in Western Australia.
Dr Ruggiero and Dr Raffaella Salvo coordinate a free MBT service for 3-12 year old children and their families at the Kids Hub community service in Midland, Western Australia.
