A. Javiera Duarte Soto is a Psychologist and Master in Adult Clinical Psychology from University of Chile and Doctor in Psychotherapy with double degree from University of Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. In addition, she has received training in Mentalization-based Treatment (MBT) from the Anna Freud Center and University College London; Mentalization based treatment for Adolescents MBT-A and Mentalization based Treatment for Trauma (MBT Trauma) from Fundación Imagina and Anna Freud Center and a has a diploma in Operationalized Psychodynamic Diagnosis (OPD-2) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She is also a certified EMDR therapist, recognized by EMDR Institute and EMDR Iberoamerica.
Javiera is certified as a specialist in psychotherapy by the National Commission for Accreditation of Clinical Psychologists in Chile and has extensive experience in clinical psychology and adult psychotherapy with Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders and Personality Disorders. She also works as a supervisor and clinical lecturer from a Cognitive Constructivist approach.
Currently, she is an associate professor and researcher at the Center for Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy Studies (CEPPS) of the Diego Portales University where she also teaches, supervises and coordinates the Diploma in Psychotherapy Research for Mental Health professionals at the same university.
She is a Young Researcher at the Millennium Institute for Research in Depression and Personality (MIDAP) and a member of the Latin American Network of Psychotherapy and Change and the Society for Psychotherapy Research (SPR), where she also serves as executive secretary for the Latin American chapter.
Her lines of research focus on the Subjective Experience of Mental Health Problems, Psychotherapeutic Processes, relevant episodes and change. And Attachment, Mentalization and mutual regulation in psychotherapy.
