Lucía Núñez
Lucía Núñez is a faculty member at the School of Psychology, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychotherapy (jointly awarded by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Universidad de Chile), a Master’s degree in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Universidad de Chile. Her academic work focuses on change processes and therapeutic relationships in child and adolescent psychotherapy, complex trauma, and clinical and psychosocial interventions within public health systems.
She has extensive experience teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels and practices as a clinical psychologist and supervisor, providing care for children, adolescents, and their families across public and private sectors. She has received clinical training in Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) for children, adolescents, and families, certified by the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families.
Currently, she leads the FONDECYT-funded project “My Therapy”, a research study investigating the effects of mentalization-based interventions in children with polyvictimization trajectories, and their impact on the development of epistemic trust. The study uses participatory methodologies, including children’s drawings, interviews with children and their caregivers, and observational measures such as the MBT-C Adherence Scale (MBT-CAS).
Lucía Núñez is also a collaborating researcher at the Millennium Institute for Research on Depression and Personality (MIDAP), a scientific center dedicated to generating knowledge that promotes psychological well-being and strengthens interpersonal relationships in contexts of high adversity.
