Nick Midgley, PhD
Nick Midgley, PhD, is Professor of Psychological Therapies with Children and Young People at UCL and the Anna Freud, London. Programme Director for the MSc in Developmental Psychology and Clinical Practice, and Academic Director for the PsychD in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. Nick trained as a child psychotherapist at the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, where he is now co-director of the Child Attachment and Psychological Therapies Research Unit (ChAPTRe).
He has been involved in the development of mentalization-based treatments for children and families. His published works include Minding the Child: Mentalization-Based Approaches with Children, Young People and Families (Routledge, 2012) and Mentalization-Based Treatment with Children: A Time-Limited Approach (APA, 2017). He is currently involved with several research projects that are evaluating adaptations of MBT for use with foster carers and for children in care who have experienced early maltreatment and trauma.
